Congrats to PHS JROTC Cadet Lake on $10,000 1st place Prize !!!!

Nine Prescott High School FBLA members participated in the State Thrive Time Challenge – Financial Literacy Game and sophomore, Nakai Lake, walked away with the 1stplace winner’s trophy and a $10,000 scholarship.

This reality game challenges teens with real life decisions like buying cars, managing expenses, buying stocks, paying for college, starting businesses, etc. 100+ students from across Arizona gathered Thursday evening, April 17, 2014 at Arizona State University’s West Campus all competing for the top scholarship prizes: 1st - $10,000, 2nd & 3rd - $5,000 each.

The Thrive Time Challenge is a statewide financial literacy initiative providing opportunities for high school students to learn important concepts related to managing money and time as well as the importance of charity and overall positive decision-making in a fun and innovative manner.  The challenge is an extended board game competition in which Prescott High School Business Education Department uses as a curriculum enhancement during the Financial Literacy Unit.  Financial Literacy is now a state mandated graduation requirement.

“Oh my gosh, I just wanted to win one of the water bottles I saw on the prize table!  This is awesome” quips Nakai Lake.
